2020-10/meetings-show

For the first time, the Convention Bureau Birmingham & West Midlands will exhibit its vast selection of venues and attractions through a virtual stand. The stand will be open to industry professionals who want to find out more about the region’s connectivity, heritage and culture, and range of versatile meeting and conference venues, in a bid to attract future events from around the world.

Key partners on hand to represent and showcase the breadth of the region’s venues will include the Hilton Birmingham Metropole, Park Regis Birmingham, the NEC Group (NEC, ICC, and the Vox), The Eastside Rooms, Warwick Conferences and Shakespeare’s England.

The event provides the opportunity for more than 850 pre-registered buyers to introduce themselves, network and attend live educational webinar sessions to share knowledge across the industry.

Delegates can learn more about the West Midlands’ offer as one of Europe’s leading events destinations and the upcoming opportunities arising from the region’s major unique milestones including the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games and Coventry City of Culture in 2021.

Stephanie Mynett, Visitor Economy Business Development Manager at the West Midlands Growth Company, said:

“It has never been more important to proactively champion the West Midlands’ business tourism offer through global platforms like The Meetings Show. We are eager to promote the region’s vibrant and versatile venues to the meetings and events community from across the world, positioning us strongly for when the industry reopens.

“The region’s hosting of major events like Coventry City of Culture in 2021 and the 2022 Commonwealth Games, together with the Conservative Party’s decision to return to Birmingham in 2022, 2024 and 2026, is testament to both the enduring strength of our business tourism offer and the exciting potential on our doorstep.

“However, the enthusiasm, innovation and resilience of our partners and the wider business tourism sector can only get us so far in these challenging times. We want to use this opportunity, to once again, highlight the need for targeted intervention from the UK Government to support the survival of this unique and extremely economically valuable industry”.

Led by the West Midlands Growth Company, the Convention Bureau Birmingham & West Midlands has been working alongside event organisers for 35 years, offering expert guidance and insight, and invaluable support to ensure that both organisers and delegates receive the best possible welcome and experience.
