About the West Midlands Growth Company image

The West Midlands Growth Company, as it is today, was established in 2017. Prior to that, the company was known as Marketing Birmingham, which had worked to promote the region since 2006. We’ve enjoyed great successes with our leisure, business tourism and inward investment programmes and we’ll continue to grow them to reach our ambitions for the region.

2022 saw one of the biggest international events come to our home – the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games. During the summer, the eyes of the world turned to Birmingham, and the people of the West Midlands delivered.

In response to this pivotal event for the region, the Birmingham 2022 Business and Tourism Programme was developed. We were privileged to be able to work during the games and with our international audience to capitalise on the unique economic opportunities the games brought to the city, the region, and the country.

We helped to facilitate the many visitors who came to experience the games, and since then, we have been working to build on the success that the events brought to the West Midlands.
