The Directors programme will start in March 2019 and will offer a practical approach to develop relevant skills demanded for leadership.

The nine-month course will cover areas such as finance, marketing and sales, human resources and the essentials for being a director.

There will also be optional modules covering change and Brexit, digital marketing and diversity and board dynamics.

It will be taught by experienced practitioners and academics from the University of Wolverhampton Business School.

Director of the University of Wolverhampton Business School, Professor Clare Schofield, said:

“We are delighted to be launching the new Directors programme aimed at aspiring and existing directors in March 2019.

“Delivered by experienced practitioners and underpinned by academics from the University of Wolverhampton Business School, executive coaches will support and challenge our students throughout the nine-month programme.”

Stuart Squire, Honorary Fellow and retired PLC Director, has been involved in developing the course. He said:

“We have identified that there are a lot of small to medium sized enterprises in the local area where very good managers have been promoted to directors but have not received training to be that director. They really want to do the best for their business but need a bit of help. We hope they will gain skills in finance, HR and strategy to be the best director they can be.”

There will be a series of two-hour taster sessions held in the Lord Swraj Paul Building, in room MU506, providing information about the course. The details are:

  • Tuesday 4 December 2018 at 2pm
  • Tuesday 11 December 2018 at 6pm
  • Thursday 17 January 2019 at 2pm
  • Tuesday 22 January 2019 at 6pm
