Ride the Nation is a cycling relay connecting all of PwC’s offices across the UK, and includes visits to colleagues in the Channel Islands and Northern Ireland. The challenging route saw a team of five ‘national riders’ cover the entire distance in a gruelling month. This year it started in Birmingham and finishing 28 days later in London. Each day, the national team wa joined by colleagues from across the country, riding daily sportives or simply taking part in smaller and shorter local rides and activities.

Almost 500 colleagues from across PwC in the UK took part in the event this year, with many more participating through their involvement in related fundraising activities. Nationally, Ride the Nation has raised £113,344.20 in 2019, supporting 32 local charities across our PwC local communities and the PwC Foundation charities (UK Youth, Samaritans, Wellbeing of Women and Beyond Food Foundation).

Staff in the Midlands raised a total of £11,080.59 across PwC’s three offices, which has benefited local charities The Prince’s Trust in Birmingham, The Matt Hampson Foundation in the East Midlands, and the Willen Hospice and Winter Night Shelter in Milton Keynes.

Fundraising in the firm’s Birmingham office raised £8,122.64, of which £4,061.32 has been donated to the office’s chosen charity The Prince’s Trust, as well as supporting the PwC Foundation charity partners UK Youth, Samaritans, Wellbeing of Women and Beyond Food Foundation.

The Firm’s Birmingham office has a long-standing commitment to supporting The Prince’s Trust as one of the sponsors of its Birmingham East Team programme. The 12-week personal development programme run by The Prince’s Trust,  is designed to help young people gain skills, work experience and self-belief, as well as achieve a nationally-recognised qualification.

Since its inception in 2015, PwC’s Ride the nation has raised more than £300,000, making a real difference to the communities PwC works within every day. The event was conceived, and continues to be run, planned and organised solely by PwC staff. It’s thanks to the efforts of hundreds of people who help with fundraising, and the backing of the firm and commercial sponsors which enables the event to take place.

The 2019 sponsors were Salesforce providing financial support for the event, and Ribble Cycles supplying bikes and equipment for our National Riders, in addition to discount on bikes and accessories.
