Millennium Point’s astronaut boldly went where no man had gone before – in a spacesuit, at least – when he ‘moonwalked’ past bemused Brummie shoppers, before planting his MP Events flag in front of Birmingham Council House.

The stunt highlighted not only Millennium Point’s event ‘space’, but its commitment to supporting West Midlands-based STEM (science, technology, engineering and maths) projects. In 2018 it donated £4.8m to local STEM projects.

All the commercial activity that takes place in the 46,450 sqm landmark Millennium Point building feeds back into the charity, enabling it to donate and invest in STEM-related organisations, projects and initiatives.

Rebecca Delmore, commercial director at Millennium Point, said:

“The Apollo 11 Moon landing was such an iconic event, and as an organisation that actively promotes careers in STEM, we wanted to celebrate it in a fun way; our spaceman drew plenty of attention and smiles.”

With a range of versatile and flexible public and private events space, Millennium Point’s experienced team is on hand to deliver a wide range of events – from conferences and award dinners to parties and high-profile presentations.
